November 2004 Newsletter
We have
had a very busy month!!
Last
month was just jam packed with events. Many of the Cub Scouts camped and
attended the Boshear’s
Skyfeast.
We had 2 great days of weather and saw a fantastic air show.
Our Rain
Gutter Regatta was a lot of fun. This was a new event for our pack and a BIG THANKS goes out
to Michele and Ray Marks who coordinated the event. Michele and Ray donated the
gutters to the pack so we are ready for future Regattas. The gutters got a 2nd use at the St Mary’s School Carnival as the Cub Scout Booth.
The Spook-O-Ree had over 57 Pack 8 Cubs and family members attend. The days were packed full of
Scouting activities and the nights were packed full of Halloween activities. A
special THANKS to Dawn Cornwell, who was our camp coordinator.
The Popcorn Distribution went smoothly and the Rocket derby proved to be very well liked by the Cub Scouts. Kevin Huffman has done a great
job as our Pack Kernel. The organization he setup with the Den Kernels has
pulled this activity off without a hitch. You should have turned in your
popcorn money to your Den Kernel by now, but just in case you have not yet
turned in all of your money, you can bring it to the Pack meeting tomorrow.
Pictures of most of the events are on our web site at http://pack8.com/picts.htm . If anyone has pictures of the Rocket Derby and
are willing to have them posted email them to me.
Our November Pack meeting is at Holy
Trinity Church (downtown). The meeting is Monday November 15 at 7:00 PM.
We had to move locations because all of the meeting locations at St Mary’s were
taken. Holy Trinity has reserved St. Frances Hall for our November pack
meeting. If you're facing the front of the church, St. Francis Hall is in the
building to the left of the church. You walk into the hall when you enter the
double doors to the building. There is a sidewalk that connects the front
entrance of the church to the hall. If you go to the front of the church, some
signs will be posted to tell people where to go. At our pack meeting we will
hold our advancement ceremony, have a Leave No Trace presentation by the Bears,
and we will make our Christmas crafts to be distributed as we carol in December.
We need people to bring large pine cones, crayons/colored pencils/markers, and
Christmas wrapping paper for the craft.
Tuesday, December 14 at 6:30 PM we will sing Christmas Carols to the residents at Sunrise Assisted Living on Boy Scout Rd. After we complete
the caroling we will return to St. Mary’s School Cafeteria for our Christmas
party. Allison Crow is coordinating our Christmas caroling and party and has
asked the Dens to bring the following to our party in the SMS Cafeteria:
Webelos
– drinks
Bears –
Sweets
Wolves
– Salty Snacks
Tigers
– plates / cups / napkins / ice
